LAND OF A LOSS is the first output from multicultural techno-fiends ANTS (Søulless+ ODDZ), a 4-track EP dwelling in the harder and darker side of modern techno music with industrial leanings. A sonic portrait of Palestine, an unacknowledged nation reclaiming its right to exist. The force behind this desire and message takes form with bombastic and galvanizing tirades; if the INTRO welcomes us with somber atmospheres, ambient drones and weeping guitars, conceiving a melancholic soundscape.

UNORGANIZED RESISTANCE guides us among gritty obsessions and inquisitive snare-drums, employing steady kicks and sharp distortions as weapons against the oppressor. A throbbing bass-line underlines its never-ending ride to great effect, while the second part of the track surprises us with hidden melodies and crushing beats.

HAVOC UNDEFINED is a cyberpunk mantra with frantic synths and coarse rhythmic attacks, a collection of shrilling effects and hypnotizing techno movements violated by discordant industrial kicks. The number collide with rhythmic noise galore, in an enthralling exercise in organized chaos.

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL is the final station of this voyage, a subtle and corrosive crawling which grinds everything under its sheer impact. Harsh noise undertones grant us a seductive mantra ready to collapse into bombastic and devastating loops dominated by savage kick-drums. During the second half of the track old-school techno synth-lines are added in order to generate a frenzy dance, showcasing the apt mutant nature of the project.

LAND OF A LOSS is not a collection of mindless club numbers, the work uses techno-industrial motifs as a form of art and expression, communicating with us and exploring an enduring reality made of daily conflicts and never-ending hope. Techno, noise, industrial find their antagonistic and social roots once again, meeting at a fascinating melting-pot of influences and intentions.

Heavy industrial-techno. Swell all around, but the one that cuts above the rest is "Judas Cradle". Following a slightly off-beat march into a derelict factory of sand and rust texture, this tracks then assaults with kicks that shake the stone, with accenting hi-hats and horn that calls for the query that willingly, and perhaps unknowingly, stepped into its sacred hunting grounds. Used this slightly sped-up in a set midway from a lull. Absolutely tore up the hall. Would do again. DJ Home Movies
